1. Introduction

RAW in FOCUS (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an independent editorial photography magazine operated from British Columbia, Canada. By accessing or using this website (the “Site”), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

RAW in FOCUS is an editorial platform only. We do not offer travel services, bookings, or commercial tours through this Site.

2. Editorial Nature of the Site

All content published on RAW in FOCUS is presented for editorial, documentary, and artistic purposes. The Site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. While we strive for accuracy and integrity, we make no warranties regarding the completeness, accuracy, or reliability of any content.

RAW in FOCUS does not publish sponsored content or paid advertising.

3. Intellectual Property (Site Content)

Unless otherwise stated, all site design, layout, editorial text, branding, logos, and other materials owned by RAW in FOCUS are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You may view and share content from the Site for personal, non-commercial use only. You may not reproduce, redistribute, modify, or commercially exploit content owned by RAW in FOCUS — including site design, editorial text, branding, and layout — without prior written permission.

Contributor-owned photographs and materials remain the intellectual property of their respective creators and are governed by the Contributor Submissions section of these Terms.

4. Contributor Submissions & Copyright

4.1 Ownership

Contributors retain full copyright to all photographs and materials they submit to RAW in FOCUS.

4.2 License to Publish

By submitting content to RAW in FOCUS, contributors grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:

  • Publish the submitted work on the Site

  • Use the work to promote RAW in FOCUS and its editorial content (including social media, newsletters, and editorial announcements)

  • Archive the work as part of the publication record

This license does not transfer ownership and does not permit resale, sublicensing, or commercial licensing of contributor work.

4.3 Attribution

All published contributor work will be credited where reasonably possible.

5. Compensation

RAW in FOCUS does not pay for unsolicited submissions or general contributor content.

Any compensation for commissioned or assigned work will be agreed upon separately, in writing, prior to publication.

6. Representations by Contributors

By submitting content to RAW in FOCUS, contributors confirm that:

  • They are the sole creator and copyright holder of the submitted work

  • The work does not infringe the rights of any third party

  • All necessary model and/or property releases have been obtained, where applicable

  • The submission complies with applicable laws and regulations

RAW in FOCUS reserves the right to decline, edit, or remove submitted content at its sole discretion.

7. Model & Property Releases

Contributors are solely responsible for securing any permissions, releases, or consents required for publication of their work. RAW in FOCUS assumes no responsibility for disputes arising from missing, incomplete, or invalid releases.

8. Prohibited Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Site for unlawful or abusive purposes

  • Attempt to interfere with the Site’s functionality or security

  • Scrape, harvest, or reuse content without authorization

  • Misrepresent your affiliation with RAW in FOCUS

9. Third-Party Links

The Site may include links to third-party websites for reference or context. RAW in FOCUS is not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of external sites.

10. Limitation of Liability

13. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia.

14. Changes to These Terms

RAW in FOCUS reserves the right to update or modify these Terms & Conditions at any time. Continued use of the Site following changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
